A fee is the wrong amount

Usually a change made after fees were calculated. Here's how to find and fix it.

Fees don't move on their own. Editing an expense, adding a donation, or changing who's taking part leaves existing fees exactly as they were until you recalculate — deliberate, so families never see a number change without you deciding.

Save fee
Edit fee, on one player. An amount set here overrides the split and survives recalculating — the note is how you remember why.

The usual causes

  • Costs changed after calculating. Press Calculate Fee per Player again.
  • A donation was added but not applied. Same fix — donations only reduce fees at the next calculation. See recording donations.
  • The wrong players are assigned. Check the participant list; the split is across whoever is on it.
  • That player has an override. An edited fee stays put through recalculations. Open Edit Fee to see it and any note explaining why.
If families have already paid the old amount, recalculating leaves some over- and some under-paid. Check the balances before you send anything, and tell families what changed — an unexplained new number generates more messages than the original error did.
